Only 30 miles from charming, historic Healdsburg, the ‘heart’ of Sonoma County Wine Country, your drive to the ranch follows the Dry Creek Valley Wine Trail with an abundance of vineyards and world class wineries.
Journey past Lake Sonoma, heading west through the rolling coastal hills, forested with redwoods, pines, and oaks, halfway to the rugged and beautiful Sonoma Coast and arrive at this very special and unique destination. Buckboard Ranch is enjoyed year round, with mild winters, averaging 285 days of sunshine per year; Christmas time is particularly special, with the ranch house all ‘decked out’ for the holiday season.
Newly renovated, this 1940’s 5000 sq. ft. ranch house has 5 bedrooms, each with its own private bath. Combined with the adjoining 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom guest house, Buckboard Ranch is ideal for group gatherings of up to 16 (Child friendly). Furnished in ranch style décor, Buckboard has new central heat and air conditioning providing for optimal control of the indoor environment.
 Additional features include fully equipped kitchens in both houses, with dishes, glassware and flatware for up to 16. You can bring your own food or hire a catering service for your convenience. The large dining room seats 16 and both the dining and living rooms have spectacular views of the coastal foothills. Also provided are Hughes satellite computer ready wi-fi services and a 50" HD plasma TV with DirecTV in the living room of the ranch house for our guests. The guest house also has DirectTV in the living room. Please enjoy the 6 person spa with its own 1200 sq. ft. redwood deck.
With breathtaking ‘forever’ views, this working cattle ranch provides a wealth of onsite activities and attractions. Guests can wander through the 60 acres of ‘Mountain Cabernet’ vineyards and the beautiful, white vineyard barn for an up-close ‘grape escape’. There are 6 creeks running through the ranch with secluded swimming holes, private picnic areas, miles of hiking, biking and horse trails, and for the more adventurous, beautiful private campsites (bring your own tents and gear)!
The ranch also abounds with wildlife including turkeys, songbirds, quail, deer, and other birds and animals indigenous to this area. Being away from the city lights, the stars are brilliant in the night sky, providing an ideal opportunity for stargazing and the ranch is equipped with 2 telescopes. The summer cattle roundup, normally from June through August, is an especially busy time at Buckboard Ranch. You can also bring your own horses and there is plenty of parking for horse trailers, RV's and 5th wheelers.
 The areas surrounding Buckboard are also rich with opportunities for adventure: Stewarts Point on the coast, is only 15 miles west of the ranch; Lake Sonoma Recreational Area has a marina providing for fishing, boating, and water skiing, etc.; Dry Creek Valley offers world class wineries and tasting rooms; and fine dining, wine tasting, and shopping are featured in historic Healdsburg, a world class destination. With so much to see and do, Buckboard Ranch offers a unique opportunity to explore the diversity of Northern California’s Sonoma County. Accordingly, please note there is a 3 night minimum stay for our guests, allowing time to get away from it all, relax, and enjoy a complete Buckboard adventure! Many of our groups choose to stay longer and for those who do, the 7th night is FREE!
Whether winter, spring, summer, or fall, Buckboard beckons, hear the call! Sing to the rising sun or howl at the moon, but come get away from it all and reconnect with Mother Earth.
